Research on the well-being of children and youths is an expanding international and transdisciplinary field of research that has obtained increasing importance within new debates in educational and social sciences and politics. Recent developments in the field have raised new questions regarding epistemological and methodological perspectives and approaches. In particular, the normativity of the concept of well-being, how children’s subjective understandings and experiences of well-being can be integrated into research and the value of multi-national perspectives are significant questions within the field. The conference seeks to explore these issues, with a specific focus on the challenges in undertaking qualitative research on young people‘s understanding of well-being from a multinational perspective.
